POLICE are warning motorists, especially Vauxhall car owners, to be vigilant following a spate of thefts.
Between 5.30am and 10.30am on Monday, two Vauxhall vehicles were stolen and one broken into in an area of Darwen.
Two men wearing tracksuits and hoods attempted to steal a Vauxhall Astra in Ashleigh Street.
They broke into the vehicle and were attempting to start the engine when they were disturbed, according to police.
Shortly after on the same morning, an orange Vauxhall van was stolen from Mayfield Flats and abandoned in Cross Street.
A third vehicle was taken from Willows Street some time after before 10.30am the same day.
Sgt Mark Thackeray-Scott, of Darwen Police, said: "I would urge drivers, especially those of Vauxhalls, to be very vigilant at the moment.
"There is obviously a link between the make of these cars and they are most at risk.
"If car owners have any safety advices such as steering locks, I would advice them to be used and any car alarms set.
"The thieves may strike again and I would ask anyone who sees anything unusual or suspicious to contact the police."
