BRITISH Airways' decision to cancel all domestics flights out of Heathrow due to fog should only have a "minimal" effect on East Lancashire passengers, according to airport chiefs.
Thick fog has seen the airline cancel all short haul flights to and from Manchester Airport until further notice.
But a Manchester Airport spokeswoman said East Lancashire travellers were unlikely to be stranded.
"On Thursday BA cancelled nine domestic flights to and from Heathrow but the fog here is not bad at all and we have 20 other airlines continuing to offer flights to London and the impact on passengers in the North West is minimal.
"Passengers should check our website www.manchesterairport.co.uk or call 0901 0101000 for the latest information."
British Airways customers can contact 0800 727800 to see if their flight is still operating.
