BOXING Day came early for Walter Street Primary School, Brierfield, after it welcomed a visit from top boxer Amir Khan.
Khan, Bolton's IBF inter-continental light welterweight champion and Olympic silver medalist, was guest of honour as the school held an official open day to unveil the completion of a £750,000 extension.
The building work, funded largely by the local authority, incorporates a remodelled entrance, a new office area and completing a purpose built reception area for two classes classes which includes roleplay, creative and outdoor education areas as well as a mini computer suite.
The boxer looked around the school and to met staff and pupils who are big fans and chose him as guest of honour.
