OSWALDTWISTLE’S foodbank handed out its first emergency parcels to the town’s hungry on Monday.
The foodbank, based at Harvey Street Community Centre, was created by all 11 parishes in the community. Previously eligible families were having to travel to Blackburn and Accrington for aid. The committee has placed 15 bins in Oswaldtwistle primary schools, supermarkets, businesses, and GP surgeries, to collect non-perishable food donations, which will be packed by volunteers and handed out every Monday, from 1pm to 5pm.
