TAXI drivers in Pendle will have the full support of councillors in the fight to stop attacks on cabs.
At this week's meeting of the full Pendle Council, Coun Marjorie Adams, chairwoman of the taxi licensing subcommittee, said talks between the council and the police had been stepped up after a driver was left with a broken nose in an attack in Colne town centre last Friday night.
She said she had been in touch with officers in both Colne and Nelson, and that they were investigating positive lines of inquiry into the attack on Muhammad Nazir, 58, as well as pledging to do everything they could to help prevent further attacks.
Coun Alan Davies said: "There is a great deal of effort going into making drivers feel safe.
"These next few weeks are the time when the service is most taken for granted by people, and we want to make sure there are no similar incidents during the Christmas period."
