A LANTERN parade is set to officially kick off the Christmas countdown in Todmorden.
Town centre traders are preparing for an illuminated street festival on Saturday, November 23, which will also incorporate the festive lights switch-on ceremony.
Street bands, shadow puppets, torchlit belly dancers, fire performers, and a night market will be among the attractions of the Lamplighter Festival.
The theme mirrors the successful Valley of Lights event, which was held in Todmorden and neighbouring Hebden Bridge last year.
Acts like Flame Oz, the Northern Lights Street Orchestra, Stilt Batteristas, and the Handmade Samba Band, will jostle for attention.
The town hall will host a children’s festival earlier in the day, with the switch-on at 4pm.
Jeff Thomson, who runs the Curried Away market stall, said: “There seems to be lots planned, involving many different people.”
