FORMER Burnley FC director Brendan Flood is reported to be behind a bid to redevelop a police headquarters site in Manchester with football stars Ryan Giggs and Gary Neville.

The ex-Clarets director is said to have teamed up again with the Manchester United legends over an area which includes the Bootle Street police offices and Manchester Reform Synagogue in the city centre.

Flood is in partnership with Giggs and Neville in Jackson’s Row Developments, according to Property Week, and are looking at a prime 1.8 acre site.

Under his former company Modus, Flood had plans to demolish and rebuild the synagogue, alongside an office and apartments venture.

The property magazine said Greater Manchester’s Police Commissioner, Tony Lloyd, and the city council, were considering appointing a preferred developer.

It is understood the move is being made possible because Greater Manchester Police is transferring more staff to a new site in the Newton Heath area of the city.

The same trio, under the umbrella of the Cuban Group, did set their sights on the upmarket London hotel No5 Cavendish Square in 2010.

But Flood left that partnership in early 2012, according to a company statement, as the group made losses of more than £430,000 over a two-year period.

Rossendale-born Flood stepped down as a director at Turf Moor in January and later blamed a rift with co-chairman Mike Garlick and director Clive Holt.
