Ashcroft fans are a devoted bunch, but are they really going to buy a double A-side of songs both taken from the album they bought in droves back in January?
Why Not Nothing? has something of The Rolling Stones about it and its satisfying in a way that Mr Ashcroft's output hasn't been since his Verve days.
In fact it's probably the best track from platinum-selling album Keys To The World, so it's a mystery why it wasn't higher up the release schedule.
Sweet Brother Malcolm, however, is a B-side masquerading as an A-side, with a mellow, sub nursery-rhyme melody that barely cuts it as an album-filler.
