A FORMER Burnley College student has landed his second top 40 single of the year.

Pop star Harry Mondryk, who sings in the boyband ReConnected, saw their tune ‘Time Of Our Lives’ enter the official UK chart at number 33.

The record was produced by one of Harry’s former mentors, college tutor Steve Reid, from Cliviger.

Harry, 17, completed a BTEC in music at the college last year and the band, completed by Harry’s brother Max, 19 and Matt Fitzgerald, 16, have just announced their first UK headline tour.

The band is signed to Bannatyne Music, an independent label managed by Dragons’ Den guru Duncan Bannatyne.

This meant that as well as reaching the main chart last weekend, the single was number 3 in the official indie chart, above Arctic Monkeys, Adele and The 1975.

Mr Reid, who runs Doc Redeye Events, said some of the track was recorded in the studios at Burnley’s University of Central Lancashire.

He said: “The backing tracks for some edits were recorded in the UCLan studios and I actually play the instruments.

“I’m very much involved in the industry and have lots of contacts with producers and talent scouts.

“Right from the start I noticed Harry’s talent and I was quite insistent he joined the course. He ended up signing up late.”

Harry, from Whitefield, Bury, first found fame on Britain’s Got Talent when he reached the final with his previous band Connected.

ReConnected first charted in March with the song ‘One In A Million’.

Speaking about the latest single’s success, Harry said: “It’s fantasic and I’m overwhelmed by the fans’ support. I feel we have really progressed as a band now that we have managed, not one, but two top 40 hits.

“We never stop working because we all have a hunger for success. We’d love to be known all over the world for the work we put in and our music.”

The band, who have already supported X-Factor winners Little Mix, will play headline shows in Newcastle, Birmingham, Manchester, Glasgow, Belfast and London next February.
