A FATHER-OF-THREE has netted nearly £1 million on the National Lottery - but he will still be in work on Monday morning.

Blackburn Rovers fan Trevor Noon, 50, of Great Harwood, was presented with a cheque for £908,711 by personal friend and team captain Lucas Neill.

But Trevor, an engineer at metal firm Wirex Precision, Great Harwood for the last 17 years, said he had not thought about leaving because he loves his job.

The jackpot win with the numbers 4, 12, 14, 20, 46 and 49, on a lucky dip ticket bought at Blackburn Morrisons, will allow his son Liam to clear a £20,000 student debt.

Trevor, who was one of several winners sharing the jackpot, said: "It is just fantastic news. I could not believe it. I thought I had just won a tenner at first but then realised I had six numbers. I had forgotten my usual numbers when I went for the ticket, so I just got a lucky dip instead. And I'm glad I did!

"I don't think I want to leave work. It's small company and we're all friends as well as colleagues. It might sound strange but I don't think I want to give it up."

The life-long Blackburn Rovers fan had his cheque presented at the club's training ground, in Brockhall Village, near Old Langho.

Trevor added: "I wanted to come to Blackburn Rovers to have my cheque presented by Lucas because being here and winning the lottery are the two best Christmas presents I could ask for.

"It's all gone a bit mad and everyone seems to have found out. My son Scott found out about the win before I had told him. He thought it was all a wind-up and I got a text asking me if it was all true.

"I ran round to my wife at her work to tell her straight away."

Trevor and his wife, Elaine, who have been married for 21 years, said their win had not sunk in and she would continue to work too.

Elaine, 40, who works at the Co-op in Queen Street, Great Harwood, added: "I can't believe it. I'm in shock. I will be going back to work on Monday. I think I'd be bored if I stopped work. I can't quite believe it."

The family, who have three children Scott, 16, Liam, 21, and Paul, 28, plan to move house in the New Year after having always longed to but not been able to afford it.

They have not been on a holiday for the past three years and also plan to use some of their winnings to travel abroad for a break.

Trevor added: "We haven't really decided what we will do with the money apart from a house and a holiday.

"But we know we don't want to move out of Great Harwood. It's still doesn't seem real."
