THE key health risks for Blackburn with Darwen residents will be detailed in a major new report today.

Dominic Harrison, the borough’s director of public health, will launch his first annual report since the responsibility for his department transferred from the NHS to Blackburn with Darwen Council.

The report, which features video interviews within an interactive PDF document, makes recommendations for action that local organisations, communities and individuals can take to improve health and wellbeing over the coming year.

It is based around five themed chapters that explore the key stages and aspects of people’s lives: children and young people, health and work, safe and healthy homes and neighbourhoods, promoting good health /supporting people when they are unwell and older people. It will be published before the ‘Health Talk’ half term event at King George’s Hall tomorrow.

Mr Harrison said: “I’m delighted to be able to present the new report to the borough. We’ve taken a very innovative approach with it and designed it to be accessible to all.”

“The report has a wide focus, making recommendations for the whole borough, including the public, private and voluntary sectors and residents themselves.”
