A LONG-standing Ribble Valley borough councillor has said she is considering resigning from the planning and development committee after becoming ‘disillusioned’ with the process.
Coun Joyce Holgate, who has been on the council for 19 years, said she is concerned that the process is not allowing councillors to represent their constituents as they would want to.
She said while she had not come to a final decision, she was not thinking about resigning from the council.
She added: “I’ve just become so disillusioned with the whole planning process recently and I’ve never seen the situation so bad in my whole time on the council.
“Councillors can’t make a difference on whether applications are eventually approved or not because developers are appealing our decisions.
“I’m seriously thinking about stepping down from the committee because there is not much I can do to represent my ward effectively.”
