ONE of the most coveted female roles in Hollywood could soon be filled by East Lancashire’s Helen Flanagan.

The former Westholme School pupil has been touted for a possible role in the up-coming Bond 24, which could start filming in 2015.

The former Coronation Street starlet, 23, is keeping tight-lipped on her chances following rumours of her holding a meeting with casting directors at MGM.

It is thought that if she is chosen she would be one of a number of actresses in the movie.

The latest adventure of Britain’s most famous spy will be directed by Sam Mendes, who directed Bond’s previous outing, Skyfall.

The new film will see Daniel Craig star once again as the secret agent with a licence to kill but no other official details have been released so far.

Helen recently bared all for her new calendar and in May she was named the sexiest woman in the UK by in the annual men’s magazine FHM poll.

She is set to star as a bullying victim in film the Bitch which will start production next month.

She recently wrote on Twitter: “So excited to film in November.”

Many actresses have graced the big screen as a Bond girl, including Gemma Arterton, Halle Berry, Rosamund Pike, Bérénice Marlohe and Tonia Sotiropoulou.

Helen is best known for playing Rosie Webster in the long-running ITV soap for 12 years before, quitting last year.

Bond girls through the ages

URSULA Andress famously became the first Bond girl of note in his first screen outing in Dr No in 1962. As the mysterious Honey Ryder, the Swiss actress’s entrance in the film, emerging from the ocean in a white bikini with two large sea shells, is considered a classic Bond moment.

GOLDFINGER in 1964 saw Honor Blackman take on the role of Pussy Galore. Galore is first seen when Bond wakes up in Goldfinger's private jet, having been knocked out with a tranquilliser gun, but fails to stop Bond saving the day.

GEMMA Arterton took on the role of Strawberry Fields in the 2008 release Quantum of Solace. The English-born actress is seen attempting to escort Bond back to the UK on M’s orders but ends up being attacked by henchmen and left for dead in Bond’s room.

HALLE Berry recreated the famous Ursula Andress sea scene in Die Another Day in 2002. Her character, NSA agent Giacinta ‘Jinx’ Johnson, worked alongside Pierce Brosnan’s Bond in the 20th film in the franchise to avert World War Three.
