A BURNLEY mum said to have "abdandoned" her two babies in squalor while she went out has been given 12 months' supervision.
The 20-year-old earlier admitted four charges of cruelty to a child under 16 in September, at Burnley Magistrates' Court.
The court had earlier been told how police forced their way into the woman's home after being alerted by the defendant's parents.
They found the two infants in "overflowing nappies" and distressed.
The house was filthy, there was rotting food in the kitchen and the only thing in the fridge was a mouldy banana. Doors were hanging off and there were no beds.
The children had now been taken into care.
Nick Dearing, for the mother, had told the bench the defendant was not evil and she was distraught her babies had been taken away.
