TABLETS and digital devices are creating more children who do not read books, a survey claims.
According to a survey of 2,000 British children and parents conducted by Nielsen Books, 50 per cent of family households now own at least one tablet, up from 24 per cent a year ago.
However 32 per cent of children still read books for pleasure on a daily basis, the second most popular activity behind watching TV, and well ahead of social networking and online videos and games.
On a weekly basis, 60 per cent of children are reading books for pleasure. However non-readers have risen from 22 percent to 28 per cent in one year.
