AN East Lancashire manufacturer specialising in environmentally-friendly packaging solutions has been sold.
Nelson Packaging Ltd is a privately owned company which has manufactured high quality carrier bags for more than 30 years. It specialises in products made from recycled materials and water-based ink. Based in Nelson, its customers include some of the UK’s best-known retailers.
Now the shareholders have sold the business to Cheshire-based trade buyer EDCAWI Ltd, for an undisclosed sum. EDCAWI will continue to trade the business from its factory in Nelson.
Outgoing managing director Richard Jones said: “We believe this sale, which was at times a complex transaction, is a great deal for both sides and the employees of Nelson Packaging.”
The corporate team at Napthens solicitors, including partner Richard Robinson and assistant Sharon Harrison, advised Nelson Packaging on the sale. Peter Johnson, partner, of Cassons, provided technical accounting and taxation advice to Nelson Packaging Ltd. John Spofforth, of O’Connors LLP, acted for EDCAWI Limited.
