CHILDREN and parents at St Paul's RC Primary School showed “amazing generosity” by helping immediate members of their community and vulnerable people in the Blackburn.

During the harvest festival at the Preston Old Road school, children were asked to decorate and personalise a box and add items of food to it.

The boxes were collected during the school’s thanksgiving service and distributed to the elderly and vulnerable in Feniscowles.

Afterwards there was a surplus of around 60 boxes, which were taken by school representatives to Nightsafe, a charity based in Blackburn town centre, which helps young homeless people. Head teacher Emily Keen, said: “Mr Foster and myself took four of our school councillors to Nightsafe to deliver the amazing amount of harvest parcels.

“They were really grateful and asked me to pass on their thanks for the donations.

“The children and their families have shown themselves to be a credit to the school.”
