AN exhibition featuring a range of stunning and original artwork will help fund youngsters on a once-in-a-lifetime cricket tour to Barbados.

Ramsbottom firm GHW Solicitors has teamed up with renowned artists Colin and Judith Yates to present a display at Greenmount Cricket Club in Brandlesholme Road on Friday, November 22, between 6pm and 11pm.

A donation from the proceeds raised during the evening from artwork sales will assist the cricket club’s junior section take a trip to Barbados in the spring of 2015.

At the free exhibition, Colin and Judith, who live in the Midlands, will be displaying their work together for the first time.

Judith creates a wide range of work including landscapes, seascapes wild- life, portraits and animal paintings.

She has recently been shortlisted for the Artist and Illustrators’ Artist of the Year prize.

Colin has established himself as one of the leading sport artists in the UK, with work on display at The National Football Museum.

He has more than 30 pieces represented in the Professional Footballers’ Association art collection.

A collection of the artists’ work will feature on cards, prints and original paintings. Both artists will be available to talk about their work and a number of sporting celebrities are expected.

Gareth Williams, from GHW Solicitors, which sponsors Greenmount CC, said: “I first met Colin through our mutual involvement with the Professional Footballers’ Ass- ociation.

“We have discussed taking the boys on a tour for some time and have now decided to do something about it. “It will be hard work to raise the necessary funds and a number of fundraising events are now planned for over the next 18 months. “But hopefully, it will all be worthwhile and give the boys experiences that will last a lifetime.

“We have chosen Barbados because the club has good links there through Franklyn Stephenson. “He was the Greenmount club professional in 1988 and now runs a cricket academy there.”
