EAST Lancashire residents are being asked to wear their poppies with pride after the launch of two poppy appeals at the weekend.
Royal British Legion groups in Nelson and Blackburn launched their annual collections and people are being asked to donate to the cause in exchange for a poppy in the run-up to Remembrance Day.
The Blackburn branch is also appealing for more volunteers to help with the appeal. Anyone interested can call Eddie Maxwell on 01254 692216. Pupils from Hameldon College, Burnley, have also been presented with certificates by Keith Shepherd, from the Burnley and District Services Club, for helping with fundraising bag- packing at Sainsbury’s.
