VISITORS to Blackburn Market will get a Hallowe’en surprise as a 400lb pumpkin is the main attraction inside the hall.
Award-winning pumpkin sculptor Simon McMinnis, from Fylde, carved out designs in the pumpkin watched by enthralled crowds on Saturday.
Simon has featured on the popular prime-time One Show on BBC1 with his intricate lifelike carvings from the Hallowe’en-themed fruit.
The event is part of a drive to attract more people into the market by staging events there.
Craft sessions were due to take place at the market for children today, where youngsters could create spooky spiders, pumpkin masks and decorations for their home celebrations of bewitching day.
And on Hallowe'en itself there will be face painting for youngsters.
Market traders have also been getting in on the action and several have decorated their stalls for Hallowe’en.
