A GROUP of fitness fanatics bared all for a charity calendar.

A total of 52 members of Crossfit Clitheroe Uncovered were photographed, in a variety of revealing poses, to raise funds for Pancreatic Cancer UK.

Michael Barsby, 42, of Dorset Drive, Clitheroe, had extensive, private surgery – known as the Whipples Procedure – in Germany last February, as he battles the aggressive form of cancer. Mr Barsby, a GP who used to work at Kiddrow Lane Health Centre, in Burnley, and his wife, Susan, will also pose in the calendar.

He said: “It’s amazing to get so many people involved, and I’m really touched by their support as raising money for research will have such an important impact on the health of sufferers in the future.”

Zoie Carter-Ingham, a professional photographer who took the pictures, and also a member of Crossfit Clitheroe, said: “I have been looking over the photos so far, and I have to say it made me feel really proud seeing them all. What a wonderful team.

“I hope this calendar is a huge success and we are able to donate much-needed money towards research of this devastating disease.”

Surgeons removed Mr Barsby’s pancreas, along with his spleen, gall bladder and part of his stomach, after he was told he would not be able to have the operation in the UK.

The father-of-three now has to wait five years to see if he can be given the all-clear.
