POLICE were involved in a high-speed pursuit with a difference on Saturday night.
A horse escaped from a farm and hoofed it to Darwen town centre where police chased it along Blackburn Road to Lynwood Avenue at 9.30pm.
Fire crews passing by stopped to help out but no owner could be traced.
Darwen fire officer Paul Brown said: “The RSPCA will only come out if an animal is injured or harmed and this horse was fine.
“The only thing we could do was walk him back to the station and keep him here overnight.
“We gave him some apples and he was reunited with his owner yesterday morning.”
