WHEN Burnley kick-off their top of the table clash with QPR this afternoon they will have the backing of an enthusiastic group of supporters in an unlikely location.

Children from the Otter Project, in Cape Town, will be donning their Clarets shirts to cheer on their favourite club against Harry Redknapp’s men.

The youngsters have become keen Burnley fans following donations of old kits by the Clarets Trust to the Ottery Youth Care Centre in the South African city.

Moosa Mahadick, from the centre, this week sent a message of support to the club through Peter Pike, president of the Clarets Trust.

He said that he hoped Burnley fans were ‘savouring every moment of the wonderful run of results’ and also labelled the flourishing Danny Ings and Sam Vokes partnership as ‘awesome’.

"If I were a betting man I would have been smiling all the way to the bank,” said Mr Mahadick.

“The form and soccer is really thrilling and I’m finding myself following the Championship instead of the Premier League.

“The Ings and Vokes partnership is awesome and I hope we can go far in the Capital One Cup as well.

“Please wish the lads well with the top of the table clash.”

The Clarets Trust has been collecting old shirts and sending them out to Africa for several years.

Similar batches have arrived in Nelspruit and Johannesburg in South Africa, as well as Gambia, Kenya and Egypt.

A shipment has also been sent to Bangladesh.
