A VICTORIAN mansion which was transformed into a school for children with educational and behavioural difficulties has received a ‘Good’ Ofsted rating.
Last year the former Woodlands building in Holly Tree Close, Darwen was turned into Brambles East School.
About 56 boys are taught at the school under the leadership of headteacher John Rider. All pupils are referred by the local authority as they cannot cope with mainstream education.
Inspector Zahid Aziz said: “Students make good progress in English and outstanding progress in mathematics.
“Senior leaders and staff ensure that students in need are re-connected to full-time education and adult life. As a result, they achieve success.”
