WILL Straw, the Labour party candidate looking to challenge Jake Berry MP for his Rossendale and Darwen seat at the next General Election, has said the energy price rise has come as ‘a kick in the teeth for many families’.
Mr Straw said: “Npower has become the latest energy company to announce an eye watering price rise, hitting consumers with a 10.4 per cent increase in bills. This follows a 9.2 per cent rise from British Gas last week and 8.2 per cent from SSE the week before.
"With most people’s seeing their spending power falling, the price rise will come as a kick in the teeth for many families, especially in East Lancashire.
“Three more big companies are due to announce their price increases and I would be astonished if they didn’t use these extraordinary rises as cover for their own."
