AN 83-YEAR-OLD mother died after falling down the steps to her cellar, an inquest was told.
Minnie Selby was found at the bottom of the steps of her home in Greenbank, Stacksteads, by her daughter and son-in-law on August 14 this year.
She was taken to hospital but died two days later due to multi-organ failure, which had been brought on by a condition called rhabdomyolysis – a result of the position she had ended up in following the fall.
Coroner Richard Taylor recorded a verdict of accidental death.
