AN ex-senior police analyst has had his name cleared over sex allegations against two children.
Mark Dallison, 45, had earlier stood trial at Burnley Crown Court, where he had been accused of and denied a total of six charges of rape and three counts of sexual activity with a child, against a boy and a girl. He was found not guilty of six of the allegations by the jury.
The jury had been unable to reach verdicts on three charges and the panel had been discharged after eight hours of deliberations.
Mr Dallison, of Melville Avenue, Barnoldswick, faced a possible re-trial, but Judge Beverley Lunt recorded not guilty verdicts on the remaining charges, after the prosecution offered no evidence on Wednesday.
Prosecutor Peter Horgan told the court the alleged victim had been spoken to by the Crown after the jury’s verdicts.
He went on to say: “Having taken into account the the complainant’s view and with the public interest in mind, the case is not suitable for a re-trial.”
Mr Dallison, who has no criminal convictions, was discharged from the dock by Judge Lunt, who told him that was the end of the case.
He was dismissed from Lancashire Police in December 2011.
