A HUNT has begun for a gang who painted racist graffiti on a house in what police have described as a 'sickening attack.'

Vandals painted racist abuse across the front of a house and fence in Worcester Road, Whitebirk, Blackburn.

Nazi swastikas painted over a discarded window grill in the front garden are among the offensive drawings and words.

The vandals used white paint for their attack and the police believe they must have been at the property for some time.

The attack is believed to have taken place between Friday December 9 and Saturday December 10.

Attempts have been made to remove the graffiti with a scouring pad and spray detergent from but the majority can still be seen.

Police have said it was a sickening attack which appears to have been random.

Sergeant Andy Winter said: "These offenders will have been there for some time and I appeal to anyone who has any information to come forward.

"The person responsible for committing this mindless criminal damage in the heart of a residential area has no respect for others whatsoever."

Coun Jim Blackburn, from the Shadworth and Whitebirk ward, said: "I am unaware of any racial tensions or problems along those lines in that area of my ward."
