AN ATTACK victim who was "inches from death" after being stabbed with a knife has spoken of his trauma.

Keith Bradley, 37, formerly of Willows Lane Accrington, was found by police with a knife embedded in his back.

The blade was touching his aorta and if it had severed the artery he would likely have died.

This week two men pleaded guilty to the attack and were told by a judge they faced jail.

Mr Bradley, who was attacked in his home, said he has now lost all his confidence.

Since the attack on a Sunday lunchtime in April, which left Mr Bradley with more than 20 cuts and bruises, the former IT manager has been unable to work because of ill health.

After spending weeks in Blackpool Victoria Hospital being treated for his injuries he has moved to Blackburn to get away from Accrington.

Mr Bradley said: "I was alone at the time of the attack. They just barged in and started to attack me. I had done nothing to deserve the level of violence they inflicted on me.

"Since the attack I have lost all my confidence and have not been able to work.

"I cannot understand why the two men did this to me. I never want to see them again.

"I am pleased and relieved at the outcome of the court case and feel that now they have both been convicted I can put it all behind me.

"It has all been very traumatic for me and I am pleased that now I can start to move on and get on with my life."

Det Sgt Nigel Watson said the attack was "extremely violent and cowardly".

He said: "The violence used on Mr Bradley was extreme and unnecessary and the viciousness of the attack cannot be justified in any way.

"I hope that the conviction will go some way towards showing Mr Bradley that justice has been done so he can move on and start to put this horrific ordeal behind him."

James Bibby, 21, of Sarah Street, Darwen, admitted wounding with intent at Preston Crown Court. Peter George, 20, of Nutter Street, Accrington admitted unlawful wounding.

Omar Saddiq, 24, of Wordsworth Road, Accrington, had previously pleaded guilty to perverting the course of justice in connection with the incident.

The three men, who were released on bail, will all be sentenced together on January 26.
