THE reasons for recommending an eating establishment can vary greatly.

It may simply be that the food is fantastic and, that no matter the cost, it is worth it.

Then it could be that the atmosphere or the surroundings are so special you almost don't care what the food is like.

However, a key area - and one that is often overlooked as it isn't really foodie' - is that you have found somewhere offering great value.

Such is the case of the Boddington Arms located close to the main gate of British Aerospace.

The menu has plenty of main courses which are fairly standard pub fare - steaks, pies, lasagne etc.

But - and this is a big but - what you do get is two main courses for the price of one.

So we were able to enjoy a cheese and bacon burger, steak and eggs, a large glass of red wine and a Pepsi for less than £15.

Now all this talk of value amounts to nothing if the food isn't up to scratch and maybe it wasn't of the standard you'd get in a top gastro pub, but it's all relative.

My burger was nicely cooked and not over done.

Topped with a rasher of bacon and melted cheese it was very tasty and there were enough chips to leave me full.

The steak and eggs could be had with chips, jacket or new potatoes.

It was cooked as ordered and came with two golden fried eggs and peas.

Food snobs might criticise the presentation but let's put it into context.

The Boddington Arms concentrates on providing unfussy pub food and a price that suits all pockets.

If you want fancy food go elsewhere - but be prepared to pay for it.
