A Blackburn man returned home to his flat to find it had been burgled - by his neighbour.

Preston Crown court was told that the victim and Mark Brown had rooms at premises on Hancock Street.

Brown had taken property to fund his drug addiction.

Brown 32 appeared for sentence for burgling the flat in October this year.

He also asked for 13 offences he had told police about to be taken into consideration.

He was returned to prison for 182 days from a previous sentence and will then serve 29 months for the burglary.

Ken Hind, defending, said substance abuse was related to his offending.
