A RISHTON man was ordered to pay more than £1,300 after he ignored orders to clean up his back yard.

Council officers demanded Jason Lee Barbour, 41, clean up an accumulation of rubbish bags at his home on Spring Street.

But Barbour ignored an abatement notice and was summoned to magistrates’ court, where he was ordered to pay fines and costs totalling £1,330.

Deputy leader of Hyndburn Council, Clare Pritchard, said: “The back yard of this property on Spring Street was a mess.

“We gave Mr Barbour plenty of chances to get it cleared. This case serves as a reminder that we won’t tolerate it and will take you to court if necessary.”
