THE DEBATE over whether Muslim women should wear the veil will be reignited on Monday at a meeting in Blackburn Cathedral.

To veil, or not to veil: whose question is it?' will be debated by Anjum Anwar, a Muslim scholar and activist in East Lancashire, and Canon Chris Chivers, of Blackburn Cathedral.

There will also be an opportunity for audience debate and discussion.

It follows comments made by Blackburn MP Jack Straw, in the Lancashire Telegraph about whether Muslim women should wear the veil. The debate starts at 7.30pm and everyone is invited.
