BOSSES at Blackburn's King George's Hall have insisted security is good at the venue despite the alleged theft of 256 blank tickets.

It comes after Kenneth Martin Lavelle, 30, of Gibson Road, Chorlton, Manchester, was remanded in custody by Blackburn magistrates after being charged with theft of 256 blank Ticketmaster tickets from the box office at King George's Hall.

The magistrates directed the case should be heard at Preston Crown Court.

The Lancashire Telegraph asked Ticketmaster about their security arrangements and whether Lavelle was a current or former employee but the company refused to comment.

Coun John Milburn, executive member for leisure and culture for Blackburn with Darwen Council, said around 200 tickets had allegedly been stolen from the venue in October.

He added: "Ticketmaster and the police have been involved and CCTV footage removed from King George's Hall.

"Arrests have been made and a court case is ongoing.

"Present security at King George's Hall is good and there was never any question of the public or staff being at risk.""

A spokesman for Ticketmaster in the UK said: "I have been told by our legal department that we cannot comment - we will not be commenting."
