A MOBILE CCTV van is being stationed around Blackburn town centre in a bid to keep an extra eye on crooks.
The van was unveiled at The Mall in Blackburn town centre.
It was launched by Blackburn with Darwen Community Safety Partnership, a group which brings together police, council, health and fire bosses.
The previous weekend the van had led to arrests, police said.
Chairman of the partnership Coun Andy Kay said: "We are not using the van as a tool to spy on people as they go about their daily lives.
"We are introducing it in the hope it will deter would-be criminals, making them think again about committing an offence.
Inspector Claire Holbrook of Blackburn police said: "The new technology will allow us to monitor crime and disorder and I hope communities will feel reassured by its presence."
