BURNLEY'S newest sculpture, the Singing Ringing Tree, on the hills above Cliviger, will be officially launched next week.
The "tree" at Crown Point, which is made of steel pipes and will make a low whistling sound as the wind blows through it, is part of the Panopticons series of new landmarks.
It follows on from the Colourfields project in Blackburn and the Atom, which opened in Wycoller this summer.
On Thursday, Anthony Wilson and Tonkin Liu, who designed the tree together, will be joined by the Mayor of Burnley, Councillor Mohammad Najib, who will unveil the sculpture, and representatives from Burnley Council, Mid Pennine Arts and the Lancashire Economic Partnership.
The ceremony will take place at Towneley Hall, but at the beginning of the event guests will be taken by coach to see the tree and hear its "song".
Director of Mid Pennine Arts Nick Hunt said: "The Singing Ringing Tree' is a unique sculptural landmark which will undoubtedly attract many visitors and allow them to enjoy a completely new perspective on Burnley and its beautiful surrounding countryside."
