THIS is how the new Darwen Aldridge Enterprise Studio could look if it is given the green light.
The new school, for students aged 14 to 19, will open in September with a temporary base at Darwen Aldridge Community Academy.
But by next September, it plans to relocate to its new home at the former Model Lodging House in Police Street.
An artist’s impression shows how the school will look once its £4.1million Government-funded new building is complete, with a new rear entrance to the building created and a mixture of the existing architecture with modern features, such as a glass roof.
The school will open with Year 10 and Year 12 students from across Blackburn with Darwen next month, and is now taking admissions into both year groups.
It will offer GCSEs and A-levels with a focus on crea- tive digital and business-related subjects.
In addition to their traditional learning, all students will also get a weekly professional work placement related to their studies or career aspirations at local firms such as Capita, Crown Paints, Forbes Solicitors and Lucite.
Every student will also have their own personal coach who will meet with them weekly and support them with all aspects of their progress.
Principal Ruth Bradbury said: “It is fantastic to see the designs for the building taking shape.
“The combination of traditional and modern architecture means that the Studio will resemble many contemporary workplaces, and it will be an ideal environment for the real life learning we are offering our students.”
