A DAY out in Rawtenstall normally finishes for me with the delights of the famous Ilex Chippy.
It is one of the best fish and chip shops you will find with proper chips, perfect pies and gravy that tastes like it should do — but for some reason on Saturday I fancied a bit of a change.
Well, to be honest, the change was kind of forced upon me as Ilex had closed by the time I stumbled out of the cricket club in search of solids after an afternoon in the sun.
So I took a stroll down Bacup Road and into Mi Mi’s.
It looks like your standard takeaway and the menu is also pretty much what you would expect from such a shop.
So most of these places being pretty much the same, I opted for my normal choice of special mixed kebab in a naan bread . . . and declined salad as I am still wary of the reception from the reader after my colleague went on a salad love affair a fortnight ago.
The kebab took a few minutes to cook but that gave me time to watch the world go by in the shape of groups of Rawtenstall revellers and when that fun ended, the food was ready and I wandered off into the night to eat.
The garlic sauce was good, the kebab OK . . . I will probably head back there as well.
