THE revitalisation of Nuttall Street in Accrington will be jeopardised if a council is forced to follow its own procedures, a report has warned.
Unless Hyndburn Borough Council’s current procedure rules are waived, it could also miss its targets for Empty Homes Funding because of ‘depleted resources and competing priorities’, regeneration and housing manager Helen McCue Melling said.
Under the current rules, any projects that are valued at more than £75,000 must be open for tender or selective tender with at least five firms invited to provide a quote.
But the Regeneration and Housing Department wants to hand the work directly to its developer partner, Place First, which is currently on site with the development phase of the contract.
In a report going before the council for a decision today, Helen McCue Melling said the move would save ‘time and resources’.
