THE first 350 fans through the door of the WEC Group Anchor Ground for AFC Darwen’s season opener against Northwich Flixton Villa on Saturday will get a free pie and a pint in the clubhouse.
The initiative is being offered by stand sponsor Howarth Timber in conjunction with beer supplier Thwaites. Bosses at the club are encouraging Darreners to head to the ground to see the work that has gone on to improve it.
Regional manager of Howarth Timber Jason Rothwell said: “Howarth Timber, with support from Thwaites brewery, will give the first 350 through the gates a pie and a pint on them totally free of charge as a thank-you for your support to AFC Darwen.
“Local companies and residents are showing their support in a bid to get our local team promoted. Come on down and see for yourself the transformation of the old ground.”
The club recently unveiled Darwen metal fabrication firm WEC as its main sponsor for the new season.
Entry costs £4 for adults and £2 for children and kick off is at 3pm.
