A BRASS band from the Valley has been selected to perform at a prestigious contest.
Stacksteads Band will participate in the Hardraw Scar Brass Band Festival, which is now in its 130th year and is the second oldest outdoor event of its kind.
The band will play for a set of between 18 and 22 minutes, consisting of popular music, a march and a hymn tune.
Fred Bowker, the band’s music director, said: “We are very much looking forward to participating in this special contest.”
They will perform second out of 13 groups at the Green Dragon Inn in the hamlet of Hardraw, Yorkshire Dales, on Sunday, September 8, at around 10am.
In preparation for the contest, the band will be giving a performance at Rawtenstall Cricket Club in Worswick Crescent on Thursday, September 5 between 7.30pm and 9.30pm.
