A RAMSBOTTOM man completed a mammoth 1,000-mile motorbike ride in less than 24 hours to help raise more than £2,000 for the North West Air Ambulance.

Lynden Page, of Lancaster Avenue, was joined by Chris Forster, from St Helens, during the successful Iron Butt Association’s ‘Saddlesore 1,000’ event for the charity, which provides emergency care from the air.

The duo took to their bikes from Lancashire, around the north coast of Scotland via John O’Groats, with the journey starting and finishing in Preston.

Lynda Brislin, chief executive at North West Air Ambulance said: “We are always grateful for the efforts of people like Chris and Lynden, as they help to keep our two helicopters operational and saving lives.

“It’s always encouraging when people choose a charity with a connection to their local community and we really appreciate that they have taken our charity to his heart and completed such a massive challenge.”
