A MAN was hit over the head with a weapon in an unprovoked nightclub assault.
The 21-year-old was treated for his injuries at Royal Blackburn Hospital after the attack in Bailey’s, Church Street, Accrington, at 2.40am on Sunday.
Police have appealed for any witnesses to the incident to come forward and make a statement.
Det Sgt Adrian McHugh, of Blackburn CID, said: “There has been some kind of altercation between a group of white men and one man has sustained deep cuts to his head.
“This was an extremely dangerous incident and we are treating it very seriously, as we would any unprovoked attack.
“The use of a weapon like that makes the incident much more serious.”
A 25-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault.
