A 21-YEAR-old man who was shouting and swearing in the street, was abusive to a police officer, a court heard.
Burnley magistrates were told how Neil McConnell was said by the officer to have had a vacant expression, kept grinding his teeth and had a ‘look of pure anger’.
Nearby residents were shouting: "Lock him up". Police thought he was also under the influence of drugs.
The hearing was told McConnell said he was going to knock himself out once at the police station.
He ran at the cell and the walls, leading to him being restrained and put in a head guard.
McConnell, of Glen Street, Colne, admitted being drunk and disorderly in the early hours of July 12, in Cleveland Street in the town. His solicitor Adnan Hanif said his actions had been ‘disgraceful’.
The defendant was fined £110, with a £20 victim surcharge.
