BURNLEY’S banking revolutionary Dave Fishwick is to be used as the model for a new structure of community banks proposed by a government committee.
A report co-authored by Steve Baker MP, chairman of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Economics, Money and Banking, cites Mr Fishwick’s Burnley Savings and Loans, in Keirby Walk, as a prime example of community banking.
The report was submitted to the Parliamentary Commission on Banking Standards last month as part of its new guidelines.
Mr Fishwick said: “Bank of Dave are being taken very seriously now. Very exciting times lay ahead.”
