THE son of a Darwen woman who died aged just 25 has raised money to buy a memorial plot for her.
Avondale Primary School pupil Tommy Tierney set up ‘Tommy’s Challenge’, a variety of events held at the school, in a bid to raise cash so the family of his mum Karla Tierney could buy the memorial plot for the former Darwen Moorland High School pupil.
A school spokeswoman said the school was grateful for the kind support shown to Tommy and his family from parents, staff and agencies outside of school, the WEC Group, Two Gates Social Club, Darwen subs bingo section and Ritherdon, who raised money and donated to the challenge.
