MEMBERS and staff at Colne's Natural Progression Health and Fitness Centre have raised £1,000 for Pendleside Hospice.

The money was raised from a weekly bonus ball draw that coincides with the National Lottery draw. Each person playing pays £1 each week with 75p from every pound going to the prize fund for the winner and the remaining 25p going into the charity fund.

When the charity fund reached £1,000, staff at the gym, lead by manager Tracy Edmondson, decided to benefit Pendleside Hospice as most of the people whot use the gym and the employees knew someone who had benefitted from the care provided at Pendleside.Based in Reedley, the hospice provides care to people suffering from cancer and other life limiting illnesses.

Hospice fundraising manager Mrs Kaye Bartle said: "We are delighted the members and staff at Natural Progression have decided to support the hospice. We rely on support from the community to ensure that we can continue our work and the bonus ball idea is an excellent idea to raise funds and have fun at the same time."

The fitness centre is based in Vivary Mill, Vivary Way, and as well as a state-of-the-art gym also run a range of fitness classes for members.
