WHETHER it’s punk rock, family fun or Elizabethan drama, there is something for everyone in East Lancashire this weekend.

Tomorrow sees the return of the popular three-day music festival Cloudspotting.

Pitch up and camp out near Stephen’s Park, a rambling 16th century farmhouse set in several acres of clearing in the beautiful Gisburn Forest.

Headline acts include post-punk Liverpudlians, Clinic, electro-folk eccentric Jonnie Common and Scottish singer-songwriter the inimitable King Creosote.

The festival is family friendly and a handful of tickets are still available. Visit www.cloudspotting. org.uk for more details.

If you’d rather trade the campervan for an Aston Martin, then a trip to Clitheroe’s Classic Car Show should be on your ‘to do’ list.

Classic car owners from all across the UK are bringing their vintage vehicles to the foot of Clitheroe Castle from 11am on Saturday.

There will also be film screenings telling the stories of Bond Cars and the region’s car manufacturers.

As Shakespeare famously said, all the world’s a stage, and this weekend, the grounds of Padiham’s Gawthorpe Hall are being transformed into a theatre for a special outdoor performance of the Bard’s ‘A Comedy of Errors’. Audiences are invited to bring deck chairs and refreshments to the show which starts at 6.30pm. Tickets can be purchased on the night.

Elsewhere in Burnley, punk band the Notsensibles play in Queen’s Park in what will be their first gig in more than 18 months.

Responsible for the hit single ‘I’m in love with Margaret Thatcher’, they will be joined by Complete Control and Swamp Donkey. The outdoor gig starts at 6.15pm on Saturday, tickets £5 in advance.

There is also a family fun day in aid of Cancer Research UK, outside Blackburn town hall on Saturday from 11am.

n The weather is going to be more cloudy than in recent weeks, but still very warm. Showers are expected for Sunday.
