A MAN who ‘did the sensible thing’ and left his car after having a drink after work saw the vehicle later in the night after he had drunk even more and foolishly decided to drive it home.

Guy Adam Harper, 44, of Azalea Road, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol.

He was banned from driving for 28 months, made subject to community supervision for 12 months and ordered to pay £85 costs.

The court heard that Harper gave a reading of 99 against the legal limit of 35.

Scott Parker, defending, said that after leaving his car, Harper consumed more alcohol at home and then went back into town.

“For some reason he decided to drive the half a mile to his home and was stopped at 3.35 am,” said Mr Parker.
