Ribble Valley Community Safety Partnership is hoping to encourage a wider take-up of plastic glasses in bars at weekends.
Coun Kevin Horkin, who works with the group, said it was important to promote the use of the polycarbonate alternatives to make sure residents continued to feel safe.
He said: “In the wrong hands, glasses do become weapons.
“We are trying to put some funding together to set polycarbonate glasses as an alternative.
“I think there has been a little bit of reluctance to change, but we are only talking about a Saturday night, when you get a lot of people going to one place.
“Statistically, the Ribble Valley is one of the safest places to come to in Lancashire and and it is very important people continue to feel secure.”
